The spectacle of another free-falling stock markets in China in January 2016, following about 12 months of the same downward growth trend, suggests that a significant economic change or milestone has arrived for China. As it turns out, January 2016 was not a random month but astrologically highly significant for China and the world. While January is highly significant, it also highlighted a mistake I made, or at a minimum, an oversight in my astrological forecast made in December 2015.
In my last post, Virgo (2015-16) Leading into Taurus published on 12 December 2015 I stated:
“In a Virgo period, …., everyone is critically examining the evidence and data looking to drag the markets down – but based on hard evidence rather than the illusions associated with bubbles.
….. This is the first time where I have utilized 5 week blips (pico-ages). I cannot guarantee their accuracy at this stage and so this blip analysis can be treated as research in progress and I will review the outcome in a later post.”
I have received congratulatory feedbacks for predicting the down market commencing in January but despite the fact I am a Sagittarian and therefore like bragging, I actually made a big mistake. The mistake was one of omission. However when mistakes are made, there is still a 50% probability of getting the outcome correct, or almost correct – which occurred in this instance. So while it can be construed that I did provide a correct forecast for a depressed market in January 2016, I missed the importance of the Cancer blip – which in my previous post I had shown as being activated straddling January and February 2016.
What constitutes a blip? These blips are at the very bottom rung of the ladder of the astrological ages and I have only been referring to them in the last few months and only applied to financial astrology. All periods are waves, and it just so happened that the Cancer blip occurred within a larger Cancer period, which also occurred within an even larger Cancer period and yet again. When this occurs it is like all the ducks lining up (to be shot at the county fair). The small blips resonating with larger waves (of the same zodiacal sign) always occur near the end of every wave and this creates a ‘sting in the tail’. These ‘stings in the tail’ are highly noticeable as they are super-charged from the parent wave(s). It appears that the massive slump in the Chinese stock markets in January 2016 corresponded to one of the ‘highly noticeable’ periods which unfortunately I did not notice in my preparatory work – I just recorded an average downwards influence.
I also made a second error in my pervious post. I applied an untested assumption in my December forecast – I assumed that the emphasis of the Cancer blip in question was based on the second part of the sine wave (descending from the peak to its bottom). I should have taken the top 50% of the bell curve instead. For a 10 week sine wave, this shifts the emphasis from the last 5 weeks to the middle 5 weeks. This brings forward slightly the peak emphasis of the Cancer blip, so instead of stating it was mainly effective straddling January and February, it would be more accurate saying its main effect was in January.

Pica-ages is an entirely a new frontier for me in macro-astrology as less than a year ago I told myself that blips (pica-ages) are either unidentifiable, and if identifiable, unusable. Why? Because the astronomy behind the astrological ages (precession of the equinoxes) is erratic at the scale of weeks and months. Allegorically, these blips behave as if they are attached to a rubber band which at places are very stretched, and at other places is loose. Some blips are technically a lot longer, and some are much shorter compared to an average blip.
In the current astrological environment, Cancer is the elephant in the room. If Cancer is the elephant in the room, what does this mean in financial terms? China is not the only country or region ruled by the sign Cancer, but it is the second biggest economy in the world and so China is the (Cancer) elephant in the room. This means that, at a minimum, China is the economic heavyweight in the world for at least the period October 2013 until June 2017 and consequently will be the foremost definer the world’s financial affairs during this period. Therefore, any time within this almost 5 year period that accentuates Cancer, so will China’s economic affect upon the world be strong. This is what occurred in January 2016, and it is by its very nature, this is not a common event.
The Cancer blip does not occur in a vacuum. A significant change occurred in December 2014 strongly affecting the future direction of China. Since December 2014, a new 29 year wave commenced associated with Gemini. This creates an interesting paradox. Firstly, China will be even more influential upon the world post December 2014 compared to the preceding 15 years. Secondly, in the post December 2014 period, China also has to deal with Gemini. Unfortunately, Gemini is a very difficult sign for Cancer China and so this does not bode well for China.
The paradox is that China’s economic performance (or lack thereof) will be even more powerful in the coming years, but it will not continue an accelerating growth path of the last few decades. This will be deeply accentuated from 2029 onwards when a super-major Gemini influence comes seriously online. China will hit real troubles and not limited to the financial markets. This does not mean it will not be the counter-weight in the world to the American goliath in the 21st century, it just means that China’s economic honeymoon period is coming to an end and it is the normal hard work to maintain economic progress from now on.
Future expectations remain as expressed in my previous post in December: Virgo 2015-16 Leading into Taurus. With the following adjustments
The Virgo 5 Month period (Aug 2015 – Jan 2016) is obviously still thrusting at the world raw reality, and in January it honed in on China because the major influence in January was from the Cancer blip resonating with a number of larger Cancer periods. By the end of January, the Taurus 5 Month period (quasi nano-age decan) should have arrived (and if not, it will arrive very soon thereafter). What can we expect from this Taurus period? Taurus is money in all its forms so any outstanding issues related to foreign exchange, currency devaluations, interest rates etc. that are unresolved will come into focus in this period (Jan-Jun 2016). The impact of Taurus will significantly strengthen in (or around) March 2016 (when the Taurus nano-age overflow commences) with ts 15 month window of opportunity.
Despite some financial turmoil, Taurus is not known for recessions or overly depressed economic conditions. This may be partly attributable to the fact Taurus is the opposite sign to Scorpio – a harsh reality sign bringing economic chaos and the key sign associated with the recent Global Recession.
Following is the updated table taking into account the wave nature of the blips:
|Nov 2015||Dec 2015||Virgo||Leo|
|Mar 2016||Apr 2016||Taurus||Taurus|
|Apr 2016||May 2016||Taurus||Pisces|
|Sep 2016||Oct 2016||Sagittarius||Scorpio|
|Oct 2016||Nov 2016||Leo||Libra|
|Feb 2017||Mar 2017||Leo||Cancer|
|Mar 2017||Apr 2017||Aries||Gemini|
Guide to the above table:
- RED: positive influence upon the economy and markets
- BLUE: negative influence upon the economy and markets
- LIGHT BLUE: probably a negative influence
- BLACK: neutral (ie Taurus)
- 5 MONTH: (quasi nano-age decan) represents the 5 month influence in play. All these 5 month influences sit within a 5 year Cancer influence and Cancer can be taken to be a neutral sign because it likes to go up and down – it is a volatile sign. Therefore, the 5 Month influences are more powerful in the 5 year Cancer environment as it suggests which direction the markets will wander
- BLIP: this represent the middle 50% of each blip.
Some blips are shown located within just one month, but whenever another date occurs in the Straddle column, it means the blip straddles the two months. These blips are approximately 5 weeks, so when they are shown in the above table to only affect one month, the period can be extended into whichever month immediately before or after that is shown as a blip that straddles two months. For example the Gemini blip associated with February will tend to overflow more into March than into February.
I have been working the 5 Month influence for some time and these have greater credibility compared to the 5 week blips, so when a 5 Month influence is positive (red), a blue blip will either be mildly down, or not down at all. However, when both the 5 Month and blips have the same color, this should be more noticeable.
What is noticeable in the above table is that next significant upward trend is aligned to the Pisces blip that appears straddling April and May 2016 suggesting a market rally.
A noticeable change should also occur by February 2016. In the above table, January and February shows two difficult blips but these are occurring in the new neutral Taurus 5 Month period. This does not therefore portend a disaster but does suggest that financial issues related to interest rates, foreign exchange, liquidity, banks and so on may have a hard landing after the toppling of China from its formerly highly charged growth or as a consequence of the USA increasing its interest rate.
According to Ambrose Evans-Pritchard, in Davos (9:00PM GMT 19 Jan 2016):
The global financial system has become dangerously unstable and faces an avalanche of bankruptcies that will test social and political stability, a leading monetary theorist has warned.
Debts have continued to build up over the last eight years and they have reached such levels in every part of the world that they have become a potent cause for mischief,” he said.
Additional major points from Ambrose Evans-Pritchard are:
- Many debts will never be serviced or repaid (in the next recession).
- If the management of debt write-offs is mismanaged it may set off a political storm based on who are the winners and losers
- Europe will probably experience to worst debt write-offs as it is holding probably $1 trillion of non-performing loans
- Stimulus from quantitative easing and zero rates after the recent Global Recession infected east Asia and emerging markets, stoking credit bubbles
- Every major country, except for China, is currently engaged in currency wars though none admit it.
- If China follows suit, the world is in big economic trouble
- The Fed is now in a horrible quandary as it tries to extract itself from QE. If they raise rates it’ll be nasty. If they don’t raise rates, it just makes matters worse

It is unlikely that a recession will occur in 2016, but with Taurus in full flight from March 2016 onwards for 15 months, some difficult financial issues associated with the above are likely to make an impact. The world economic system is in a mess. However, the major financial collapse due to the out of control capitalist system is probably reserved for 2019 and the following few years. This will also be an extremely difficult time for Europe as the major 5 year sign will be Aquarius, sitting in dreaded 12th house position to Europe’s Pisces. The last time Aquarius approached this strength was when the Nazi’s and Italian fascists ran amok in the 1930s, mainly in Europe.
Caveat: These blips are new territory for me, and what I am actually doing here is publishing research-in-progress. Over the course of 2016 I will record the results (taken from the DJIA) against the above table. A small amount of backward compatibility work is supportive of these blips, but no exhaustive research has been undertaken.
